Workshop “The climate is changing, agriculture is responding. The role of supply chains”
A workshop was held for discussions and debate on the role of producer organisations in strengthening the resilience to climate change of supply chains based on of the experience developed by Life ADA with representatives from regional institutions, cooperatives, consortia and agri-food cooperative representative associations.
XXXII SIEA Conference 2024
The CREA-PB presented a study carried out as part of a project on the costs and benefits of the adaptive measures that form the basis of the ADA Tool at the “Skills and information for an innovative, sustainable agri-food system” conference of the Italian Agri-Food Economy Society (Ragusa).

A closed-door workshop was held for discussions and debate with representatives of national and regional associations at the American Centre of Studies on the main legislative recommendations regarding risk assessment and new incentive tools based on the experience developed by Life ADA.

It was shown how to adopt adaptive plans in agriculture to initiate a virtuous circle to enable everyone to improve the rate of exposure to natural risks at an event entitled “Climate change and supply chain of enterprises”.
Tenuta Masselina – Workshop “The wine production supply chain and climate change: an examination of the new challenges and risk management”.
The event was the last of three meetings organised by the Emilia-Romagna Region dedicated to the fruit and vegetable production, wine production and dairy production supply chains with the aim of contributing towards the definition of action strategies that increase resilience. This workshop, following on from the meetings dedicated to the fruit and vegetable production and dairy production supply chains, gave an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge among experts on the challenges posed by climate change and on risk management to try and find common solutions to increase the resilience of the wine production supply chain.
ICMIF Sustainability summit
The ICMIF Sustainability Summit (London) gathered members from all over the world to discuss and share best practices while examining the challenges faced by the sector and agree on solutions to create better businesses and new opportunities. The Life ADA project was discussed as part of the panel “Incorporate resilience into strategies”.
Parmigiano-Reggiano Consortium – Workshop “The dairy production supply chain and climate change: an examination of the new challenges and risk management”.
The event was organised by the Emilia-Romagna Region and was the second of three meetings dedicated to the fruit and vegetable production, wine production and dairy production supply chains to help define the action strategies that could increase resilience. This workshop, following on from the first meeting with the fruit and vegetable production supply chain, aimed to give an opportunity for an exchange of experiences and knowledge among experts in order to set out a strategy to adapt to climate change for the dairy production supply chain.
LIX Conference SIDEA
At the Italian Agrarian Economy Business conference, the CREA-PB, with a talk called “Climate change impact on agriculture in Italy: a literature review”, set out the recommendations for adaptation, offering instructions to help tackle the challenges posed by climate change in the three analysed by the project.
SANA 2023 – Workshop “The fruit and vegetable production supply chain and climate change: an examination of the new challenges and risk management”.

XLIV Conference – AISRE
The CREA-PB, with a talk called “The production process control system in the wine sector: a cost-benefit assessment through the exemplificatory model implemented in the ADA project” brought the project to the XLIV conference of the Italian Association of Regional Sciences.
Conference XVII EAAE congress
The CREA-PB submitted the poster “Agri-food systems in a changing world: Connecting science and society” at the “Agri-food systems in a changing world: Connecting science and society” congress in Rennes (France) of the European Association of Agricultural Economists.
Second Forum of the Mission on Adaptation to climate change
The European Commission took stock of the Mission’s progress over the past year, with a focus on multi-level governance (national, regional and local authorities) to support adaptation and address how knowledge can help enhance resilience solutions. Life ADA had the opportunity to present its objectives, illustrating the role that insurers can play in promoting risk prevention in the agricultural sector.
EuAWE 2023
At the European Association of Wine Economists Conference, CREA-PB discussed the economic damage that adverse weather events can cause, the convenience of adopting climate change adaptation measures and the extent to which the implementation of such adaptation measures is appropriate, during an event entitled “Evaluation of climate change adaptation strategies in the wine sector.
The role of the insurance sector in promoting the prevention of climate change risks in the agricultural sector: the ADA project (Adaptation in Agriculture) as a case study
The ADA Tool was presented in a specific webinar, organised in collaboration with ICMIF (International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation), with discussion on the role insurers can play in promoting risk prevention in the agricultural sector.
MacFrut 2023
At the trade fair for professionals working in the fruit and vegetable sector in Italy and abroad, the final version of the ADA Tool was presented during the event “Life ADA project: a new app to help farms face climate change”, held at the stand of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
Third follow-up visit
Project advisor Laura Giappichelli and monitor Carlo Ponzio gained further insight on the project developments. On the first day, they discussed the progress of the actions launched and, on the second day, were able to inspect the project’s practical activities in the field.
Workshop “Enhancing food security under changing weather patterns: farm adaptation”
The workshop, organised by the EU CAP Network, aimed to identify and share innovative solutions that can improve farm adaptation to climate change phenomena such as drought, flooding, hail, frost and other related problems such as soil degradation. Life ADA contributed by organising a farm tour of Azienda agricola Notari, speaking to participants directly in the field.
Italia Next Dop
At the 1st Scientific Symposium for the DOP IGP product supply chains, the first national initiative organised by Fondazione Qualivita to promote scientific research in the DOP IGP supply chains, CREA-PB presented a guide to the best practices for climate change adaptation identified by the Life ADA project and outlined the costs/benefits of the practices it contains.
Agriculture and climate change, how to create shared value with stakeholders: the Life ADA project
The Forum for Sustainable Finance created a perfect opportunity for operators in the insurance and financial sectors to exchange views on how the financial sector can support system resilience.
Second networking event: “Technological tools and innovations to support adaptation to climate change in the agricultural sector”
This day was enriched thanks to the sharing of experiences in the context of co-funded projects.

At the offices of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Brussels, the results achieved by the Life ADA project two years after its launch were presented during the event “Research and technology to support agricultural supply chains in the mitigation of risks deriving from climate change”. Mid-term event “Agriculture facing the challenge of climate change and the opportunities of the Life ADA project”
The event entitled “Agriculture facing the challenge of climate change and the opportunities of the Life ADA project” was held at the offices of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Brussels, attended by Angelo Gentili (Legambiente Agricoltura), Alessio Mammi (Emilia-Romagna regional councillor for agriculture, hunting and fishing), Giulia Balugani (UnipolSai Assicurazioni), Paolo De Castro (Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development) and Nicola Di Virgilio (European Commission DG AGRI B.).
EIMA 2022
At the 45th edition of EIMA (the international exhibition of agricultural machinery), Life ADA presented the results of the training course promoted by the CIA (Italian Farmers Confederation) held in Emilia-Romagna along with the web app that supports farmers and cooperatives/consortia in building their adaptation plans during an event entitled “The challenge of the climate crisis: farmers leading ecological transition. The experience of the Life ADA project”.

Innovations Forum – EURESA
At the Innovations Forum by EURESA (the cooperation and networking tool of sixteen European mutual companies and insurance cooperatives) Life ADA presented the ADA tool for drafting preparation plans.
Precision agriculture and digital technologies in cereal farming and viticulture
At the networking event of the GoINN4Digital project, Life ADA presented its opportunities as well as other projects co-funded by the EU and certain applications of artificial intelligence linked to precision agriculture.

Seminar “Grean Deal Europeo e PAC 2023-2027 – L’agroecologia dal campo alla tavola” (European Green Deal and PAC 2023-2027 – Agro-ecology from farm to fork)
In the fifth and final thematic event held as part of CAPSUS, the Life ADA project and its results were presented. The CAPSUS project – the Common Agricultural Policy toward SUStainability, funded by the European Union IMCAP programme, aims to increase the level of knowledge the benefits of the Common Agricultural Policy in the socioeconomic and environmental areas, and to promote sustainable consumption, especially among young people who live in urban areas.
CASEE Conference: “L’agricoltura sostenibile nel contesto del cambiamento climatico e della digitalizzazione” (sustainable agriculture in the context of climate change and digitalisation)

“PAC 2023-2027 e agroecologia: come rendere la filiera agroalimentare protagonista del Green Deal Europeo” seminar (CAP 2023-2027 and agroecology: how to make the agri-food industry a leading player in the European Green Deal)
This thematic event was held as part of CAPSUS – the Common Agricultural Policy toward SUStainability – a project funded by the European Union IMCAP programme. This Florence-based event added a further chapter to the debate relating to the methods that the new CAP will take to deal with the climate challenges and its support of the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity 2030 strategies. The Life ADA project presented and illustrated the results obtained at this event.
“Le ricadute dei cambiamenti climatici sul Parmense alla luce del 6° Rapporto IPCC 2022” seminar (the impacts of climate change in Parma in light of the 6th IPCC Report for 2022)
Starting from the advances on the final contents of the sixth assessment report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the impacts on our territory of the climate and its growing excesses will be illustrated in simple, concrete terms. It was shown how the best practices that can be put into place – identified by the Life ADA project – can support farmers in addressing climate change.
Macfrut 2022
Reference event for professionals in the fruit and vegetable sector in Italy and abroad. A global event where business can be carried out, while also providing the unique technical specialisation, know how and excellence of the fruit and vegetable sector. For the entire duration of the fair, Life ADA had a space in the CIA – Agricoltori Italiani stand – where it was able to show its material and respond to any queries by interested parties. Additionally, on the 6th, it illustrated the ADA tool to the public; the tool establishes adaptation plans for individual farmers and producers organisations.Tenth annual IAERE conference
At the tenth IAERE – Italian Association of Environmental and Resource Economics conference, CREA-PB and ARPAE Emilia-Romagna gave a presentation entitled “Una valutazione costi-benefici associata alle misure di adattamento climatico” (a cost-benefit evaluation associated with climate adaptation measures), illustrating a reference collection of best practices for adaptation to climate change as found by the Life ADA Project and the costs/benefits that could be achieved by adopting these practices.
Second project monitoring visit – field work
The monitor, Mr Carlo Ponzio, accompanied by the partners Festambiente, CIA, Legacoop and UnipolSai, carried out the first on-site inspection at two of the commercial farms involved in the pilot region (Emilia-Romagna).
The visits to the Maicardi and Pedroni agricultural businesses served to show the monitor the data collection activities carried out to check the vulnerability of the farms.
Second project monitoring visit
Eighteen months from the beginning of the project, on a hybrid basis, the monitor Mr Carlo Ponzio, from the outside monitoring group Neemo, went into more depth in the Life ADA developments. The first half of the day was spent on the presentation and discussion of advances made on the actions launched. Financial and administrative aspects of the project were examined in the second part.
Expo Dubai 2020
“Un viaggio nell’ecosistema della cooperazione innovativa e sostenibile” (a trip through the innovative and sustainable cooperation ecosystem) was the theme of the event held at the Expo Dubai, Italian Stand, Amphitheatre. Life ADA was one of nine accounts given of cooperatives from the Emilia-Romagna region, read through the lens of 17 goals that touched on the issues of urban and living regeneration, sustainable consumption, innovation and technology for the agri-food sector, research and innovation for the environment, the role that the world of insurance can play in managing risks for the business framework and for persons and the understanding of climate scenarios.
First networking event
This day was an opportunity to acquire innovative skills by listening to virtuous experiences and to create a space for fruitful dialogue in round table discussions with other sector professionals in order to share innovative answers and find concrete solutions for the future of agribusiness and our planet.

Event organised by the Great Life project to discuss and exchange views on Life projects. Life ADA sat at the table along with other projects to discuss its experiences in relation to climate change.
7th Observatory on sustainable life styles of Life Gate
What do Italians think of sustainability: the response in the 7th Observatory on sustainable lifestyles of Life Gate. Sustainability forms part of day-to-day life. By now, sustainability forms part of the vocabulory of one in two Italians, especially thanks to expressions such as global warming and renewable energy, by now familiar terms for seven interviewees out of ten. This is the topic that Life ADA was called on to discuss, explaining the reasons behind its project objectives and how they are developing.MF ESG Awards 2021 (sustainability awards)

2021 AIAM Convention
Each year the Italian Association of AgroMeteorology organises a convention that deals with the most current matters in research and applications in the agrometeorological area.
In the XXIV edition, ARPAE Emilia-Romagna, with a presentation called “LIFE ADA – ADattamento in Agricoltura: primi risultati delle analisi climatiche” (adaptation in agriculture: first results of climate analyses) set the basis for drafting the hazard maps of the project.

The Life ADA hackathon to help players in the fruit and vegetable, viticulture and dairy sectors.
Life Day
A day dedicated to knowledge of the most important Life projects closely connected to the issues of protection of the soil, sustainability, the fight against climate change and best agricultural practices. This is the sense of the “Life Day” organised by CIA-Agricoltori Italiani in a webinar within the scope of the project co-financed by the European Union, Soil4Life, with Life ADA being one of the key players, sharing its experiences.
First project monitoring visit
Five months from the start of the project, the monitor Mr Carlo Ponzio from the outside monitoring group Neemo could check the first developments of Life ADA through videoconference.
The day began with an examination of the technical aspects, and finished with the financial/administrative aspects. All the partners actively took part in the meeting, describing and discussing the state of progress of the project.
Life ADA presentation event – Agriculture and climate change: adaptation and resilience to stop the world’s fever
The project was presented to the public through the launch event “Life ADA – Agricoltura e cambiamenti climatici: adattamento e resilienza per fermare la febbre del pianeta” (Life ADA – Agriculture and climate change: adaptation and resilience to stop the world’s fever).
The webinar was addressed by Pierluigi Stefanini (Chairperson of Unipol), Alessio Mammi (Councillor for agriculture and the agricultural and food industry, hunting and fishing of the Emilia-Romagna Region) and Secondo Scanavino (President of CIA – Agricoltori Italiani).
