Notice on Cookies and Other Tracking Tools

This page describes how the Website manages the use of cookies and other tracking tools, also providing information on the related processing of personal data belonging to Users who visit the Website.

For more information about the Data Controller, the purposes, methods and legal basis for data processing, the categories of personal data processed, any recipient categories of the personal data disclosed, the retention of your personal data and the rights of Data Subjects, please refer to the Privacy Policy on our Website.

What are Cookies and other tracking tools?

Cookies are small text strings – which may include personal data (e.g. IP address, username or e-mail address) and technical information (e.g. language settings, type of device) – that sites visited send to the User’s terminal (personal computer or mobile device such as tablet or smartphone), where they are stored (e.g. in the browser’s memory) to be retransmitted back to the same sites on the next visit. Cookies are used to perform functions, such as computer authentication, session monitoring and to store information on websites (without the use of Cookies some operations would be very complex or impossible to perform), also in relation to the identification of preferences based on the browsing experience. While browsing a Website, Users may also receive Cookies on their terminal that are managed and sent by different sites or web servers (so called “third parties”), on which certain elements (such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the Website visited may reside.

There are also other tracking tools (e.g. “Fingerprinting”, “Pixel Tag”, “Plug-in”) that although using a different technology, allow processing similar to that carried out through Cookies and achieve the same results. Unlike Cookies, these tools do not store information on Users’ devices and may not be removed directly by the User through browser settings; it is therefore necessary for Users to exercise their right to revoke authorisation for use of the same using the features made available by the Website of the Data Controller in order to review their choices.

Possible classification of other tracking tools

Generally, tracking tools can be classified based on:

Type of tool

  • Cookies (active identifiers)
  • Other tracking tools (passive identifiers)

Origin

  • First Party (or “Publisher”, i.e. the manager of the Website visited by the User)
  • Third Party (manager of a different website that installs Cookies via the Website of the First Party)

Duration

  • Session (temporary, they are deleted when the browser is closed or, in certain cases, when the logout command is executed)
  • Permanent (they remain active until their expiration date or until the User deletes them)

Purposes

  • Technical purposes (related to the functioning of the Website)
  • Non-technical purposes (such as the User browsing profile)

Cookies used on our Website

TECHNICAL COOKIES

Technical Cookies allow the simple use of our Website and make information easier to access, simplifying the connection and data transmission between the User and the Website.

We use browsing Technical Cookies on our Website, which are strictly necessary to guarantee normal navigation and the proper functioning of the Website (e.g. to distribute incoming data traffic to the site across various servers, in order to optimise response times), making it possible to use the services offered.

Without the use of these Cookies, certain services on the Website may be inaccessible, displayed incorrectly or function in a non-optimal manner.

Session and persistent cookies both belong to the category of Technical Cookies.

Prior user consent is not required for the installation of Technical Cookies.

We also inform you that you can block Cookies at any time through your browser settings; however, if you block these Cookies on your device, some services on the Website may be displayed incorrectly or function in a non-optimal manner. In particular, operations that allow User identification and maintain identification during the session could be more complex to perform and less secure in the absence of Technical Cookies.

COOKIE ANALYTICS

We use Cookie Analytics – i.e. Cookies that are installed and used, among other things, to evaluate the effectiveness of a service, to measure traffic on the Website (calculating the number of visitors, also divided by geographical area or based on other characteristic) or the most visited pages (for statistical purposes), to improve the contents of the site or facilitate User navigation, to perform anonymous “cross-device” analyses in order to offer Users a consistent experience across different devices used, and to perform analyses to facilitate use of the Website by Users, also in terms of user experience.

Given that the use of these Cookies does not result in the direct identification of the Data Subject (since the information collected by these cookies is used in aggregate and anonymous form), they are comparable to Technical Cookies and therefore do not require prior consent.

Please note that these cookies are managed by Third Parties and are considered Persistent Cookies, since they remain active until their expiration date or until the User deletes them.

TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA OUTSIDE THE EU

Some of the Third Parties that provide services through the Cookies used on our Website, subject to prior authorisation, or other third parties involved by the aforementioned Third Parties in the provision of the services mentioned above, may eventually receive and process your personal data in non-EU countries (countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area).

If envisaged due the purposes of the processing carried out, the transfer of your personal data outside the EU will take place in compliance with the provisions of current applicable legislation on the subject, and in the presence of a suitable guarantee (for example, based on an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission, or following the stipulation of a “Standard Contractual Clause” between the data importer and exporter).

We also inform you that your personal data collected through the use of Cookies will not be disclosed.

LAWFULNESS OF PROCESSING

The legal basis for the processing of data collected by the Website through the use of Cookies with a technical function is attributable to the legitimate interest of the Company.

COMMUNICATION RECIPIENTS

The information stored in the Cookies is exclusively used by our Company, Unipol Gruppo S.p.A.
