This technique involves tilling the soil at a depth of 5-8 cm with machinery equipped with vertical discs not inclined with respect to the tillage direction, which do not lift or mix the soil. The practice aims to break soil crusts and surface compaction, mainly caused by the transit of agricultural machinery, and to cut crop residues without burying them given the high tillage speed. In viticulture, the technique is adopted using rotary harrows with a vertical axis instead of discs.
